Confirmation Classes

Dear friends, I’m excited to invite you to our Confirmation class — starting Sunday, June 1, right after the 10:00 PM service. This course is technically for folks preparing for Confirmation, but it’s also perfect for anyone curious about the Episcopal Church, whether or not you plan on being confirmed or received. We’ll meet on Sundays: June 1, June 8, June 15, June 22 Classes run from 11:30–1:00 PM in the Adult Classroom. We’ll cover the Bible, the Prayer Book, our beliefs, church history, and why Episcopalians love potlucks and liturgy. Please let me know if you’re planning to join so I can order you a book (and arrange childcare if needed). Full official details are below — but really, it’s going to be great. Hope you’ll join us! Peace, Stephen Hood CONFIRMATION, INQUIRER’S CLASS, AND NEW MEMBER ORIENTATION Confirmation is the rite in which individuals make a mature public commitment to Christ and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop (Book of Common Prayer, p. 860). It is the adult affirmation of baptism, marking a formal declaration of faith and a desire to be part of the Episcopal Church. Reception is the rite by which adults who were previously confirmed or baptized as an adult in another Christian tradition are formally welcomed into the Episcopal Church by the Bishop. At St. Matthew’s, we will offer the Confirmation and Reception classes in 2025 for anyone age 14 and older who wishes to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation or received into the Episcopal Church. These classes will prepare participants for Confirmation or Reception when the Bishop of Colorado, The Right Reverend Kym Lucas, visits St. Matthew’s.
